I will be the first to admit it; when it comes to movies, I'm a child at heart.  I long for the true animation flicks that I grew up with like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and even The Little Mermaid.  Those films are what made me love the movies, and over the last few years, the quality of animated flicks has grown bleak to say the least.  Thankfully, amongst all the rubble you can find true gems like Disney's newest future classic Tangled.

Led by the voice work of Mandy Moore, Nathan Greno and Byron Howard's film takes you on an enchanting adventure filled with mystery, intrigue and deception.  The story is a mix and match of previously revealed Disney adventures, but this one goes a bit further.  At its core there is true romance, the longing to grow up and the undeniable innocence of an adolescent child; however, when looked at broadly, the magic and creativity that went into the story is nothing short of what you expect from the all-time leading animation studio.

I will say that this film is a bit darker than past Disney films.  The story is just as marvelous and I strongly suggest that everyone check it out; however, the jokes are more witty and the film's villain is a shrewd old lady who will do anything to keep herself young.

I especially enjoyed the continuous jokes thrown at Rapunzel's hair, a jab that never got old.  The songs are catchy and though they will never be played on the radio, I can see today's youth singing them in school talent shows for years to come.  Needless to say, Disney has done it again.  Tangled is, hands down, a certified hit; the perfect holiday treat for the whole family.

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
