“Wimpy Kid” Hits the Road with “The Long Haul”

May 19th brings us the latest installment in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. This time, main character Greg convinces his family to go on a road trip for his great grandmother’s 90th birthday, but it’s all just a clever ruse to attend a nearby gamer convention. However, things go awry and antics ensue.

The trailer should peak the interest of young kids (and maybe parents who strongly adhere to the MPAA movie ratings), but the teenage crowd won’t be quite so easy a sell. The Long Haul looks to be full of clichés, awkward moments, and eye-rolling dialogue, which will likely be seen as a bit ridiculous for anyone who has graduated the fourth grade.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul stars Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett Scott, Charlie Wright, and Jason Drucker.
