After hitting the festival circuit, Park Chan-wook, director of Oldboy and The Handmaiden, has a new feature ready to hit theaters. Decision to Leave follows detective Hae-joon (Park Hei-il) as he tries to determine if a businessman plummeting to his death was suicide or something more nefarious. The prime suspect appears to be his young wife, Seo-rae (Tang Wei), who seems to know more than she lets on.
In the vein of classic Hollywood and Hitchcock’s Vertigo, Decision to Leave has Chan-wook’s signature fresh storytelling and sensual visual style. His first feature film in six years, he won best director at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival with the movie.
Watch the trailer below and see Decision to Leave in theaters in the US & Canada on October 14 and in the UK and Ireland on October 21.
