At first glance, Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike) is a caring, professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards moved into retirement homes. In reality, she’s created a system that allows her to seize their property and sell it for profit. Alongside her partner Fran (Eiza Gonzalez), their scheme is working flawlessly until they encounter Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest), a wealthy retiree with dark secrets of her own. Soon enough, Marla ends up on the bad side of a volatile gangster (Peter Dinklage) and must decide just how far she’s willing to go for the grift.
Pike proved that she can play twisted characters after playing the main role in 2014’s Gone Girl and it looks like she’s back for more in I Care a Lot. The dark comedy is written and directed by J Blakeson and also stars Chris Messina, Macon Blair, Alicia Witt, Damian Young and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Catch the trailer below and see it on Netflix on February 19, 2021.
