Jessica Chastain Terrifies in New “Other Mommy” Trailer

Step aside, Oscar winner Jessica Chastain has entered the room.

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster have just released a second trailer for the upcoming Other Mommy.

The film, a horror/thriller hybrid directed by Rob Savage (The Boogeyman), explores the dark side of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity that looks strikingly like her own mother.

Chastain takes on the dual role, giving viewers a breath of fresh air as she wreaks havoc on a family already struggling with marital issues. Though the trailer leaves much to be desired, it hints at the intensity we can expect from the R-rated horror film.

Co-starring Arabella Olivia Clark, Jay Pulass, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen, Other Mommy crawls its way into theaters October 9. With Fantastic Fest kicking off this week, the question now is whether the film will make a surprise appearance as one of the festival’s Secret Screenings.

I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
