At first, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series seemed like one colon too many. How could anyone take such a show seriously? Thankfully, the Disney+ show leans into the absurdity, resulting in a first season that was fun and charming enough to earn a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Now, we have our first look at season two and the East High Wildcats have their focus squarely on the Spring production — Beauty and the Beast. They must face off against rival school North High to win a prestigious student theater competition. And survive high school, of course.
This time around, with popular songs on the radio, series regulars Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett will perform brand-new solos, penned by the actors themselves. Series regulars also include Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders. Guest stars include Derek Hough, Olivia Rose Keegan, Roman Banks, Andrew Barth Feldman, and Asher Angel.
