We've all met someone who seems to be permanently stuck in high school or someone who cares too much about being perceived as the "˜cool guy'"¦ Dan Landsman (Jack Black) is both. As chairman of the alumni committee (a self-assigned position), Dan is determined to make his high school's 20th reunion the party to be at, while convincing everyone that he was a cool kid in high school. Dan hatches the perfect plan "“ he'll fly out to Los Angles and convince his old friend and coolest guy in school Oliver Lawless (James Marsden), to attend the reunion. Once everyone else hears that the guy starring in a national ad for Banana Boat is attending, Dan figures everyone will want to attend "“ and will applaud Dan for coming up with the plan.

Jack Black has proven that he is excellent at creating the perfect mix of pathetic and funny. We watch Dan crumble as his insecurities and need for affirmation often lead him to make situations worse. His "˜bromance' with Oliver quickly escalates into something more needy and complex as Oliver tries to live up to the pedestal Dan has placed him on. Black and Marsden have great chemistry and Marsden does a great job as Oliver. Scruffy and laidback, Marsden conveys Oliver's insecurities, sexual confidence, and genuine enthusiasm into one believable package. Although at times his attractiveness is just downright distracting. Kathryn Hahn is also in the film as Dan's wife, Stacey. Hahn does a good job with the role, especially with the heavier sections at the end, but how many times does Hahn need to play the exasperated wife in a film? Get that woman a leading part!

The D Train is a film full of heart, awkwardness, and laughs buoyed by the talents and chemistry of Black and Marsden. While it doesn't do anything to make it truly stand out, it's a fun flick that many will enjoy.
