Any time a film uses a past studio credit to promote itself, you know that you entering into unsure waters.  Thankfully, when it comes to Warner Bros. and their family flick Dolphin Tale, the waters are calm and peaceful.

Bearing an impressive cast that includes the likes of Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd and Kris Kristofferson, Charles Martin Smith's underdog adventure is a true to form winner.

Telling the true story of how a young boy found and untangled a young dolphin who had gotten caught up in a crab trap and washed ashore, Dolphin Tale is a unique journey that you simply have to see to believe.  The power of its central message is sure to move you as you witness a spectacular course of action that transforms the life of one lonely, lost boy and the world that encompasses him.

Nathan Gamble does a solid job alongside many of Hollywood's elite as our leading man, interacting with the real life 'Winter' with pure grace and ease.  He effectively pulls at your heartstrings as he pushes and tugs for Winter's safety, working out a deal to help his new friend acquire an artificial tale to assist him in swimming.

I did find myself a bit frustrated with the incorporated war-themed side plot; however, by film's end the irony made the scenes imperative to the overall effect of the story.  While the film is filled with the typical cliche moments and cheesy middle section, as a whole it is a fun-filled family adventure that shows just how far one can go when they believe in themselves.

About Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis
I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
