Disney is sticking with sci-fi for their 2022 slate. While Pixar dropped Lightyear this past weekend, Walt Disney Animation Studios has announced their big holiday movie will be Strange World.
The delightfully old school first look is pretty much the platonic ideal of a teaser trailer. Viewers get a glimpse into a new place they've never seen, with just enough mystery to build excitement. Jake Gyllenhaal lends his voice as the reluctant explorer, who's helpfully informed that he cannot, in fact, bail on this mission. The animation looks stunning, as to be expected. Director Don Hall and writer Qui Nguyen reunite after last year's Raya and the Last Dragon.
Strange World arrives in theaters on Wednesday, November 23.
