After completing its festival run, Women Talking is here with a trailer to remind everyone that awards season is fast approaching.
Based on the novel by Miriam Toews, Women Talking stars a heavy-hitting cast of women trying to grapple with how to move forward together with their children. We don’t know much about their past, only that violence occurred and they must now figure out how to proceed. Set in an isolated religious community, the trailer plants us firmly in their surroundings of muted colors and vast, rural fields.
Every scene seems to reveal a new powerhouse actor. Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, and Frances McDormand all star as the women talking with Ben Whishaw also appearing. Judging from the trailer, they’re all out to see their names in the Supporting Actress category.
Directed and written by Sarah Polley, Women Talking promises nothing more than its title, only asking that its audience listen. See the trailer below and see it in theaters this December.
