If you know anything about St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark), you won’t be surprised to learn that she wasn’t interested in doing a straightforward documentary about her musical journey. Instead, she’s teamed up with longtime friend and collaborator Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia, Sleater-Kinney) and director Bill Benz (Portlandia, At Home with Amy Sedaris) to create a meta-documentary where both Clark and Brownstein play themselves.
In The Nowhere Inn, Clark and Brownstein set out to create a documentary about St. Vincent’s music, touring life, and on-stage persona but things quickly take a turn for the weird as strange forces emerge that threaten to tear everything apart. Have no clue what that means? Watch the first teaser for The Nowhere Inn below to get a taste and see it in theaters and at home on September 17.
The Nowhere Inn is directed by Bill Benz, co-written by Annie Clark and Carrie Brownstein and has music by, of course, St. Vincent. Pre-order it exclusively through the Apple TV+ app.
