Just ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next week, 20th Century Fox has unleashed a red-band trailer for their hotly anticipated new thriller, The Predator.
The trailer, which is overflowing with bullets, blood, and F-bombs, introduces us to a group of crazy ex-soldiers who must band together in an all-out effort to save the human race. Unlike previously released snippets from the film, here we get a bit more plot to Shane Black’s reimagining of the decades-old franchise, though to be clear this trailer is red-band, so most of the focus centers on the aforementioned blood, guts, gore, and F-bombs. Nothing gets your blood curling more than the quick switch over to inferred heat sensory during a trailer for The Predator, and that same rule applies here.
Olivia Munn’s Casey Bracket appears to the sole voice of reason within the context of the trailer, we might also be getting a heavy dose of foreshadowing as one character screams, “I figured something out. I think we’re gonna die.” Time will tell if this proves to be true, but my money is on the affirmative.
Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski join Munn in the film, which is directed by Black. The Predator invades theaters on September 14.
