Sundance Review: Touchy Feely

Score:B

Director:Lynn Shelton

Cast:Josh Pais, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Scoot McNairy

Running Time:90.00

Rated:NR

I love Lynn Shelton's ability to tell a small part of a story and somehow make it have a clear beginning and end. Touchy Feely is another shining example of her anecdotal brilliance.

Abby (DeWitt) is a therapist who suddenly becomes adverse to touching human skin. Her brother Paul (Pais) is a dentist who suddenly develops a healing touch. Their worlds collide, and the delicate balance of family and love lives is threatened.

While it is brilliantly acted, the story line lacked something I can't quite put my finger on. It ended a bit abruptly for my taste, but the end result isn't really the point of the movie. What is important is living in the moment and taking personal responsibility for the energy brought into a space.
