Running Time:90.00

In a perfect world, one can achieve their dreams without much struggle, but in the world we live in, some people must give up their dreams to fight for the dreams of the next generation. Return To Homs examines young revolutionaries from Syria and their rise to end the corrupt reign of President Bashar al-Assad.

The film gives us an inside look at the city of Homs and some of its inhabitants from August 2011 to April 2013. Emerging as the central figures in the film are Basset Sarout, 19-year-old former soccer star, and his 24-year-old friend Ossama. However, it is Basset who truly is the focal point while Ossama fades into the background.

While the filmmaking takes us into the trenches with Basset and his crew, it ultimately suffers from an editing standpoint. It's obvious lots of footage is generated, but it struggles to put it into a stronger narrative structure to put us on the frontlines"”and help us hear the song for freedom Basset so desperately wants us to hear.
