Score:B-

Director: Chris Miller

Cast: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton, Amy Sedaris

Running Time:90 Minutes

Rated:PG

Before meeting up with Shrek and Co, the super smooth, sword-fighting pussy cat had a dramatic story of his own. Puss in Boots 3D allows us to follow Puss' story as he unites with the sexy and strong Kitty Softpaws, Humpty Dumpty, and fights to save his hometown.

With a kids' movie, I would expect nothing less than cheesy.  But the writers here did a great job of actually pulling at your heart. The creators have cleverly combined multiple characters from various childhood fairytales with adult jokes and mixed it with some of the music and choreography famous to the Shrek series. The magic combination is sure to entertain viewers of all ages as families finally have a reason to venture out to the cinemas this weekend.

I don't know that anyone expected the Boots spin-off to do so well on its own, but I remain pleasantly surprised. The 3D that I assumed to be unnecessary is a simple element that should appease the children as it was not overdone or gimmicked.

Great actors playing dynamic characters with a funny plotline could carry any movie to effortless success.  But the song and dance in this film, combined with the hidden adult jokes, take it to the top of my list for kids and adults alike.
