One of France's most celebrated filmmakers is also its most mysterious. Mr. Leos Carax is his name, and this documentary aims to helps us understand his game.

I've never seen any of Carax's films or even heard of him until I came across his latest film Holy Motors. It was highly regarded in the 2012-13 year, so I put it on my Netflix list to watch later, but that may change after seeing this film. This documentary celebrates his work from critics and filmmakers who know him or studied his career. Most Americans may not recognize many of them (probably all of them), but they seem credible.

Unfortunately, while this film isn't poorly made, its audience is limited to fans of Carax's work or who want to know more about him. Since he doesn't do interviews and seems to prefer speaking through his films, you probably won't find much. Also, its momentum of interest will quickly fade on viewers unfamiliar with his work (several press and industry people left this screening early). But hopefully, it can be a good intro into helping ultra-film buffs abroad slap themselves silly for not finding this guy or his work sooner.
