"My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I will be at the South Sea Port everyday at midday when the sun is highest in the sky. I am broadcasting on all AM frequencies. If you are out there, if anyone is out there, please."

Everyday this broadcast is put out by the lone survivor, Robert Neville, of a praised scientific discovery gone wrong. In hopes of finding someone, anyone that is immune, ie. Neville never gives up, going through his daily tasks as usual while searching for some kind of cure. But as the "˜demons' begin to target him he quickly realizes that his time is limited. Now, as the human race verges on extinction, Neville has only one question: Will he survive long enough to find a cure or is this the day that all human life ceases to exist? The fate of the human race is in question, and only one man can determine the outcome.

Filled with high intensity, great action, astonishing special effects and a slight stint of comedy I Am Legend exceeds all expectations and is easily one of the top, if not the top film of the year!

The film's most prominent strength is its story. Taken from Richard Matheson's novel, the film excels on all accounts as we follow a man, alone in the world, through his daily routine and his nighttime hell. We get intensity, emotion and most of all "¦ we get humanity. Finding all of these things in one film is very rare and luckily this film and its story provides it all for us.

In addition to the story I have to commend Will Smith and Francis Lawrence. The two combine to form one of the best actor-director duos in recent memory. Every one of Smith's emotions, feelings and fears are caught on camera and presented in such a way that we bond with Neville, feeling him as a friend rather than a stranger.

Lastly I have to recognize the special effects team. Taking a thriving Time Square and making it deserted, overgrown with weeds and deer is no easy task; yet the way it was presented in the film was amazing. Everything was so realistic, seeming possible and giving the film an extra eerie feeling to it, making it that much better.

In conclusion the film was amazing. Filled with breathtaking special effects, a perfect story and impeccable talent, I Am Legend excelled beyond all expectations filling in a space as one of the top film's of the year.

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
