“Harriet” Poster Emphasizes “Be Free or Die”

Highly anticipated film Harriet has released a new poster that not only highlights its top-line talent, but emphasizes Harriet Tubman as a lone figure, fighting against slavery.

Based on the life of iconic American freedom fighter Harriet Tubman, the film covers her escape from slavery and transformation into an American hero through her involvement with the Underground Railroad. Cynthia Erivo stars as Tubman with Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monae, and Joe Alwyn also starring. The poster highlights its top-billed cast members, with Erivo standing center and staring down the viewer as the words “Be Free or Die” mark the top. It’s a powerful poster for what aims to be a powerful film.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons, Harriet hits theaters on November 1, 2019.
