An adaptation of the “true-crime memoir” of the same name, The Adderall Diaries stars James Franco as Stephen Elliott, a troubled best-selling author who uncovers a complex web of information when he digs deep into his past. Separating fact from fiction with a convicted killer, Elliott faces off against himself, seeking inspiration from a new love affair and a trial that reminds him a bit too much of his own journey.
Franco is joined by an all-star supporting cast that includes Ed Harris, Christian Slater, Amber Heard and Cynthia Nixon. While the film’s trailer screams passion project, it appears that director Pamela Romanowsy is attempting to accomplish a whole lot with this one.
While The Adderall Diaries is currently enjoying a limited theatrical run, A24 announced today that it will arrive on Blu-Ray and DVD July 5. Special features will include deleted scenes, a director’s audio commentary and a director’s perspective feature.
