Ewan McGregor Pulls Double Duty in “Last Days in the Desert” Trailer

After premiering at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, The Last Days in the Desert has finally gotten a trailer.

Over the years there have been numerous films depicting the life of Jesus Christ. However, writer/director Rodrigo Garcia has chosen to focus on the forty days that Christ spent in the desert in his attempt to find himself, to tempt fate and to face the devil head on. Ewan McGregor stars as both Christ and the devil.

In the film Garcia adds a new chapter to Jesus’ desert tale by placing him with a normal family in crisis. This adds to his already arduous test as the Son of God must decide what to do when tested with “distinctly human conflicts”?

It will be interesting to see if audiences take to Garcia’s unique religious film. The anti-paint by numbers approach is sure to create a sense of curiosity; though the film’s reach beyond the usual genre faithful will be a challenge.

Ciaran Hinds, Tye Sheridan and Ayelet Zurer join McGregor in the film, which is set to hit theaters on May 13th.
