Universal Pictures has just unleashed the very NSFW red band trailer for the hilariously titled Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
From the creative minds of the comedy troupe Lonely Island and SNL Alums Andy Sandberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Shaffer, Popstar is a fresh-faced mockumentary that looks to capitalize on the success of its lead subject, mega popstar Conner4Real (Sandberg).
The film chronicles Conner4Real, whose career comes to a screeching halt when his sophomore album flops. Much in the vein of Spinal Tap and Best in Show, Popstar is looking to stir up laughs with the cliché qualities that surround almost all documentaries…paying special attention to those rooted in music as the title itself appears to warrant a play on Bieber’s unneeded music documentary Never Say Never.
The film boasts a diverse cast as Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows, Usher, and Maya Rudolph co-star. One can only hope that Justin Bieber has the humor to warrant at the very least a cameo, but only time will tell if we get the chance to proclaim ourselves a Belieber.
