Paramount and Spyglass have unveiled the first trailer for Scream 7, the newest installment in the popular horror franchise that, this time, includes Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott.
The film introduces us to a wealth of newly minted characters as Sidney appears to have settled in a quiet town with her family. But a new Ghostface killer has emerged, bringing Sidney face to face with her darkest fear as her daughter becomes the next target. Hellbent on protecting her family, Sidney is forced to confront her past to end the bloodshed and move forward with the life she has worked to build.
Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original 1996 film, returns to the franchise, this time making his directorial debut from a script he co-wrote with Guy Busick. Busick and James Vanderbilt are credited with the story. The pair penned 2023's Scream VI. That film, starring Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, set in New York City, is the franchise's highest-grossing entry, bringing in over $166 million worldwide.
Joining Campbell in the film are fellow franchise veterans Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Hayden Panettiere. Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons, and Mark Consuelos also star, each making their series debuts.
Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, and David Arquette are also confirmed to return, though all have been presumed dead within the film's central universe. Lillard, one of the original Ghostface killers, hasn't been involved in the franchise in thirty years. His confirmed casting has many speculating what other former killers may return.
We'll all find out when Scream 7 slashes its way into theaters on February 27.
