Reeves Confirms Gotham’s Newest Heavy Hitters for “The Batman: Part II”

Gotham City welcomes new faces as production on Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II begins.

Though it was widely reported that Sebastian Stan was in talks to play Harvey Dent (Two-Face) and Scarlett Johansson was eyeing a role, Reeves confirmed both via social media, also naming several other new cast members.

Reeves had fun with the announcements, sharing GIFs of the new cast and playfully welcoming them to the DC franchise while keeping their roles secret.

Besides the MCU duo, Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch, and Charles Dance are also suiting up for the sequel.

The newcomers join returning stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin.

This follows Reeves' announcement last week that production on the long-delayed sequel had begun, teasing fans with set photos of the Batmobile in snow.  Does this hint at a possible winter setting?  Some fans are hoping.

While many will celebrate the quality of talent joining the project, fans continue to speculate whether Barry Keoghan will reprise his role as the Joker.  Keoghan made an uncredited cameo appearance as the “Unnamed Arkham Inmate” in the final minutes of the original 2022 film.  He is expected to appear in the new entry, even if only briefly; however, he has been extremely quiet on the subject.

We’ll know for sure when the film rides into theaters on October 1, 2027.

About Stephen Davis

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
