A24 has just released a first-look video of their highly anticipated new film, Warfare.
Written and directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland (Civil War, 28 Days Later), Warfare is a new type of war film. The film, set in 2006, recounts Mendoza’s experiences as a U.S. Navy Seal during the Iraq War, tracking, in real-time, a platoon of Navy SEALS on a mission through insurgent territory.
Following the success of last year’s Civil War, A24’s newest project looks to be an intense, boots-on-the-ground story depicting modern warfare. The first-look video below is powerful as it switches between film footage and brief interviews with the creatives and actors, highlighting the importance of such a project.
Boasting a stacked ensemble that includes D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, and Henrique Zaga, Warfare explodes into theaters April 11.
