David Arquette Returning for “Scream 7”

David Arquette is returning for another battle against Ghostface as the franchise regular has signed on for Scream 7.  He will return from the dead alongside previously announced franchise corpses Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard.

The trio of actors played characters who died in the film series—details regarding their reintroduction and the film's central plot are currently under wraps.

Arquette starred as Deputy Dewey Riley, who first appeared in the 1996 original film.  His character is the older brother of Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan), Ghostface's fifth victim. An original supporting player, his clumsy personality caught the attention of fans as many fell in love with his comedic timing and lovable personality.  Though set to perish in that initial outing, he was kept alive by a last-minute edit. He ultimately met his demise at the hands of Ghostface in the 2022 reboot.

Arquette will be joined by previously announced legacy members Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.  Newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O'Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry will also star.

The long-running horror franchise currently includes six films.  Combined, they have grossed over $900 million worldwide. The most recent entry, 2023's Scream VI, recorded the series' highest domestic box office gross with more than $108 million.

Written by Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt, Scream 7 will mark the directorial debut of original trilogy writer Kevin Williamson.  It will slash into theaters on February 27, 2026.

About Stephen Davis

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
