Familiar stories are always ripe for reinvention. In 2020, director Leigh Whannell released The Invisible Man, a new twist on the classic monster starring Elisabeth Moss. The film was well received, and so it’s no surprise that Whannell has been entrusted to bring another monster to the modern age.
In his new film Wolf Man, we meet Blake (Christopher Abbott), a San Francisco husband and father who takes his wife (Julia Garner) and young daughter (Matilda Firth) to his abandoned childhood home in rural Oregon. Soon, they encounter a strange creature outside that forces them to barricade themselves inside the house. As they wait, Blake himself starts to behave strangely, and his wife must decide how to deal with two threats.
The recently released teaser is light on the details, giving us our first look at Blake and his family and the strange, wolf-like entity they’re dealing with. It’s heavy on the horror and suspense, as any good thriller should be.
The film is produced by Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum and executive produced by Ryan Gosling, Ken Kay, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Leigh Whannell. It is co-written by Whannell and Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.
