As we get closer to the release of Disney’s Cruella on May 28, new trailers continue to reveal more about the plot and this newest trailer may be the most exciting one yet.
This Cruella de Vil origin story stars Emma Stone as Cruella and is set in 1970s London amid the punk rock revolution. We meet Estella, an ambitious girl determined to make it in the world of fashion. Eventually she catches the eye of Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson) and soon the mentor becomes the rival, setting Estella on a path that ends in Cruella de Vil.
The trailer showcases this rivalry between Thompson and Stone and if this is truly what the movie is, the two actresses glaring and one-upping one another in a twisted version of The Devil Wears Prada, then it looks like we’re in for a treat. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel and Steve Zissis.
Cruella will be in theaters and simultaneously on Disney+ with Premier Access on May 28.
