Over the last several years, Adam Sandler and Netflix have had a great relationship. So great that they recently extended their partnership to include an additional four films. Though critics like to harp on the comedian for his childish antics, the truth is that Sandler isn't making films for them. He never has. His immature humor and over-the-top delivery connect him to his fans, who are undoubtedly watching.
Hubie Halloween is the newest Sandler film to hit the streaming giant, and the new trailer highlights the laughs and expected potty humor we've come to expect from the Murder Mystery star.
The film celebrates one of Salem's biggest Halloween fans in Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler). Hubie works thanklessly every Halloween, ensuring that his hometown residents celebrate safely and abide by the rules. Most years, things are uneventful, but this year feels different. An escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbor have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, he must convince his town that something is amiss.
In typical Sander fashion, the film's first trailer is full of juvenile banter and gags that remind us of the actor's Billy Madison/Happy Gilmore days. Though this film won't match up to either of those classics, it's worth noting that the actor's comedy hasn't changed much over the last several decades. Sandler's past successes are what bring eyes to his films. Hubie Halloween's all-star cast should help in getting everyone else's attention.
Directed by Steve Brill, Hubie Halloween co-stars Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Rob Schneider, June Squibb, Kenan Thompson, Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Chiklis, Tim Meadows, Steve Buscemi, and Maya Rudolph. It streams globally on October 7.
