Though audiences didn’t necessarily jump at STX Entertainment’s The Boy when it hit theaters back in 2016, the film did draw a cult following of loyal movie fans. Combine that with its micro-budget and the studio did well with the picture, green-lighting a sequel that would continue the story of a boy who befriends a doll with a set of strict rules.
Starring Katie Holmes, Brahms: The Boy II centers around the historic Heelshire Mansion and the grounds that surround it. When a young family moves into the guest house on the established estate, all seems to be going well. That is until their son makes a new friend, an eerily life-like doll he calls Brahms.
The film’s new trailer doesn’t showcase much that we haven’t seen before, and in the wake of such genre fare as Annabelle, The Conjuring, and Dead Silence, I’m not sure the full film will contain much originality. But alas, here’s to hoping.
Directed by William Brent Bell, Brahms: The Boy II hits theaters February 21.
