Jennifer Lopez is a solidified triple threat. Though she is considered the leader in the forthcoming Lorene Scafaria directed Hustlers, she isn’t the only star sizzling up the screen.
STX Films has just released the first trailer for the highly anticipated exotic thriller, and boy does it deliver the goods.
The trailer begins with Lopez teaching stripper student Constance Wu, telling her that pole dancing revolves around a few foot positions. Intense lighting and editing add effect to the sequence, quickly setting the mood for the female-driven high-stakes thriller that rivals the male-dominated Magic Mike.
The film pits a group of struggling strippers against their Wall Street clients. The ladies look to justify their actions by the men’s lack of empathy and discipline for their crooked ways that resulted in bankrupting many of the hard-working middle-class.
“They stole from everybody. Hard-working people lost everything, and not one of these douchebags go to jail,” Lopez says. “The game is rigged, and it does not award people who play by the rules.”
Joining Lopez and Wu is an all-star lineup including Julia Stiles, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Lizzo, and Cardi B. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper worked as a stripper before her music career took off. Her track “Money” serves as the backdrop here.
Inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York Magazine article “The Hustlers at Scores,” Hustlers dances its way into theaters September 13.
