“Late Night” Gets Final Trailer Ahead of National Expansion

After an impressive premiere at Sundance last January, the Mindy Kaling penned Late Night is finally making its presence known - and we couldn’t be more on board.

To celebrate the film’s national expansion this Friday distributor Amazon Studios has released a final trailer (complete with audience reactions) for our viewing pleasure. And while it still doesn’t grasp the near perfection that the film emulates, we’ll take anything we can get at this point.

Late Night centers around legendary talk-show host Katherine Newbury (Emma Thompson). Though a pioneer in the field she has seen a steady decline in viewers, prompting her to make a “diversity hire” to shake things up in her writers’ room. Enter Molly Patel (Kaling), a chemical plant efficiency expert and life long fan of Katherine’s who will fight the grain to get her idol back in the network’s good graces.

Late Night is currently playing in select markets and will open nationally June 14.

I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
