Anticipation is at a record high for the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s iconic The Lion King.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is said to stay loyal to the original, and that’s a good thing. The remake already has a lot to prove as it is sure to be quickly compared to the 1994 classic, though much like the just-released Aladdin, most songs (though a bit modernized) should remain.
To keep fans at ease during the final stretch, Disney has just released a new TV spot, sporting mostly already released footage with Bayoncé Knowles-Carter’s Nala serving as narrator, giving a passionate speech to Donald Glover’s Simba.
James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, and Florence Kasumba round out the talented cast. The Lion King roars into theaters July 19.
