Fanboys across the country have yet another reason to be glued to their computer screens today as the first English language trailer for the highly anticipated Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn has officially hit the web.
The film, which is based on the manga and original anime series, bears the art direction of prolific creator Osamu Masayama of Studio Ghibli fame. His name, along with the talents of Masayuki Kojima, has given this project a substantial amount of buzz. Based on my first look (and my admittedly small level of knowledge on the subject), the film seems, at least visually, to be worthy of the hype.
Made in Abyss tells the story of Riko, an explorer who wishes for nothing more than to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Cave Raider. When the deadly Abyss takes the life of her mother, Riko is heartbroken. But an unusual note gives her hope (and a reason) to push forward and enter the unforgiving place.
The film, which is being presented in partnership with Fathom Events, has a set of screenings coming up - one in English and one subtitled. Enjoy the trailer below and then head HERE for tickets.
