It has been over two months since we had anything new to report regarding the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. Today, that changes.
The new trailer, which focuses heavily on both Harrison Ford and Jared Leto, paves way to a broader understanding of the film’s central story as it drops a few plot details that help make the broader picture a bit clearer. It also offers up a visual ecstasy that shows that even thirty years later, the world is still dark, grungy and covered in an orange glow that screams art.
With this reveal we finally get a bit more information about Leto’s villain role, detailing how his replicants have the ability to plug what’s left of society into absolute and utter chaos.
The trailer also shows Ford’s Rick Deckard explains to Ryan Gosling’s Officer K just how he disappeared: “I covered my tracks. Scrambled the records. We were being hunted.”
Ana de Armas, Robin Wright and Sylvia Hoeks also star in the sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 sci-fi thriller with Denis Villeneuve directing.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6.
