NBC Announces 13 Episode ‘Heroes Reborn’

On the heels of Fox reviving its iconic drama '24', NBC has announced that it will be bringing back ‘Heroes’, the popular sci-fi TV drama about people with superhuman powers. ‘Heroes Reborn’ will be a miniseries with 13 episodes premiering in 2015. Creator Tim Kring will be back at the helm but no word yet if any of the show’s previous cast members will make an appearance. The show originally aired from 2006 to 2010.

NBC executives did confirm that new characters would be part of the new 'event,' going as far as to tell viewers that the newbies will be introduced through a series of digital episodes that will premiere prior to that of the television show.  The original cast members of the hit show included the likes of Milo Ventimglia, Greg Grunberg, Hayden Penettiere, Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto, Masi Oka, Ali Larter and Sendhil Ramamurthy.  The show is often referenced as one that epitomizes the pitfalls of serialized television.  It started off a critical and audience success when it premiered in 2006 but struggled to maintain the status throughout its three other seasons.  It did establish itself as a cult phenomenion and generated a following; much like Fox's '24,' 'Heroes' will have fans anxious for its return.
