“MadTV” Returns to Primetime

Sketch comedy show MadTV, which last aired nine years ago on FOX, has been brought back to life by the CW. Eight hour-long episodes will air with David E. Salzman, the show’s original executive producer, back at the helm.

Mostly known as the direct competition of Saturday Night Live because it aired around the same time, the revival will bring back cast members from the original show to host each episode. Names of these hosts have yet to be announced.

With the rise of viral videos from late night shows like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, it makes sense that MadTV would be brought back to commentate on politics and pop culture in this age of live-tweeting.

Although we don’t know any names yet, MadTV alumni (and thus possible hosts) include Ike Barinholtz, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Alex Borstein, Crista Flanagan, and many more.
