Larry Wilmore Set to Replace Stephen Colberts’ ‘The Colbert Report’

Mostly known for stints as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Larry Wilmore will take over for Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central's 11:30pm EST timeslot on Mondays through Thursdays.

Wilmore will host The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore, a new comedic show which promises to "offer a comedic look at news, current events and pop culture from unique perspectives not typically on display in late night television." Created by Jon Stewart and executive produced by Stewart and Wilmore, the show will premiere in January 2015.

Bringing an African-American man into the late night mix will no doubt be refreshing. Many have commented recently on the lack of diversity in the new late night appointments of Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers, and Stephen Colbert. Wilmore said of the news, "I'm beyond excited to have this chance to continue my relationship with Comedy Central and the brilliant Jon Stewart. I love the city of New York and promise to only wear my Laker T-shirts when I'm layering."
