Why make a straightforward film about a relationship if you can change it up a bit? Thankfully, Wander Darkly agrees. The plot revolves around a married couple, Adrienne (Sienna Miller) and Matteo (Diego Luna), who end up in a surreal state of being after a traumatic car accident. This state of being leads them through their own romantic history while grappling with truths of the present.
The trailer is just as disorienting as that plot explanation, in the best sense possible. Moody with bright, colorful visuals, Wander Darkly is written and directed by Tara Miele, who wanted to write a story about a couple that must reflect on their past in order to face their uncertain future.
The film also stars Beth Grant, Aimee Carrero, Tory Kittles, and Vanessa Bayer. An official selection of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival (in the before-times), Wander Darkly arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 9, 2021.
