I don't offend easily. I watch
movies and viral videos that make my friends delete me from Facebook. I still
found myself shaking my head in dismay at this piece of crap film. Following
several storylines, the movie intertwines Jules (Diaz), Wendy (Banks), Holly
(Lopez), Rosie (Kendrick), and a few others as they prepare for their bundles of
joy. While showcasing the differences in pregnancies, adoptions, and
miscarriages, the movie also showcased the stereotype that men are incompetent
swine that are not allowed to have any negative reactions to the miracle of
birth. Basically, this movie is a chronicling of how unhappy we must be as
people until we create a miniature version of ourselves to distract us from the
fact that someday, we are going to die. Isn't it a damn shame that we aren't
complete until we bring a child into the world?
Jennifer
Lopez is horrendous as usual, while Cameron Diaz is at least pleasant to look
at (she plays a fitness guru). Thank god for Elizabeth Banks for providing the
comic relief. (Unfortunately, most of it was the usual
"˜if-you-ever-come-near-me-again"¦' jokes.) Anna Kendrick, who is among the few
extremely talented young actors on the scene today, managed to make her
dramatic scenes extremely believable, but she is the only one. Even bit
performances by veteran funny men Chris Rock and Thomas Lennon (one of my
personal favorites) couldn't save this monstrosity. All in all, this movie gave
me morning sickness.
