Not all movie heroes wear capes and fight other movie heroes. Sometimes they’re just regular Joe’s who will do what’s right at any cost. That’s the case with Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher, who returns this October in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
Okay, so maybe “regular Joe” isn’t the best way to describe Jack Reacher, but he does have a unique, grounded style of ass-kicking—a style that is on full display in a minute of new footage from the film. In the sequel, Mr. Reacher ignores the title of his new movie and goes back to the base where he was once a decorated soldier.
This time, however, the fight is not for his country, but for an old friend played by Cobie Smulders. As Jack kicks, punches, jabs and jumps bad guy after bad guy, Smulders’ character can’t help but wonder if he’s enjoying the thrill and danger of it all. We can’t speak for him, but we sure do.
