An upcoming home video release may make you second-guess your weird neighbors.
The Ones Below, the directorial debut for Hanna and Night Manager writer David Farr, boasts a deliciously creepy cast, and an even creepier plot. A thirtysomething Londoner named Kate (Clémence Poésy from the Harry Potter franchise) is pregnant with her first child, and she and her husband Justin are worried about the potential pitfalls of parenthood. Meanwhile, their downstairs neighbors—played by Laura Birn and David Morrissey (The Governor from The Walking Dead)—are also expecting, yet they are noticeably more excited and prepared for the challenges ahead.
Kate is initially enamored with the couple below their flat, but when a horrific accident unearths their malicious side, she learns that these new friends aren’t the happy-go-lucky duo she thought them to be.
The Ones Below received positive reviews upon its March UK release, and writer-director Farr has shown a penchant for tension-filled storytelling. While this film may not top anyone’s “Best of the Year” list, it’s still worth a look for you thriller lovers out there.
The Ones Blow is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD September 6
