Shia LaBeouf’s Cannes Hit “American Honey” Gets Release Date

This fall, audiences will get to take a road trip with Shia LaBeouf.

American Honey, the new film from A24, will land in theaters in Los Angeles and New York on September 30, and then expand to multiple cities in the following weeks. Led by LaBeouf and newcomer Sasha Lane, the film follows a wayward teen who runs away with a door-to-door magazine sales crew travelling across the American Midwest. Though the trip starts out as a fun escape, it soon gets complicated by drugs, crime, and young love.

The film, directed by Academy Award winner Andrea Arnold, won the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and though LaBeouf may be the headliner, Lane’s performance is also one to watch. Before being discovered by Arnold, Dallas native Lane was waiting tables in Frisco. American Honey marks the beginning of the 20-year-old’s career, as she leads a cast mixed with talented veterans and exciting newcomers.

Mark your calendars, because if Honey is half as good as The Lobster (A24’s 2015 Jury Prize winner) then it will be a must-see.
