Tower, one of my favorite movies from this year's Dallas International Film Festival, will finally hit theaters on October 12, after winning numerous awards at festivals across the U.S. Kino Lorber will handle theatrical distribution.
The documentary, which uses a combination of animation, actors and actual testimony from survivors, tells the story of the horrors of August 1, 1966, when Charles Whitman went up to the tower on the University of Texas campus with a rifle and shot 49 people.
The style, which has also been used in films like Waltz with Bashir, has a different kind of impact than your typical documentary. It's like nothing you'll see this year.
