Rejoice…everyone’s favorite imaginary dragon is back! Disney has released the first poster for Pete’s Dragon, a “reimagining” of the classic 1977 film that followed a young orphan named Pete and his imaginary friend dragon Elliot.
The poster shows a glimpse of Pete hidden behind a sea of trees with Elliot looming in the background. The image reveals a more rustic and CGI driven film compared to its predecessor, reminiscent to Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are. That film debuted a similar style poster that featured a secluded forest that channels a whimsical fairytale-like adventure.
Directed by David Lowrey the film boasts a stellar cast that includes Wes Bentley, Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley and Robert Redford. Pete’s Dragon is slated to hit theaters on August 12th.
