New Tony Hawk Doc Gets Release Date and Artwork

Tony Hawk is a sports legend, one who’s created an empire. So it’s only fitting that a new documentary about the creation of his video game empire is set to be released soon on digital/VOD.

Pretending I’m Superman - The Tony Hawk Video Game Story tells the story of Tony Hawk’s iconic video game series as told by those who created it and many who were inspired by it. Originally released in 1999, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater almost instantly became a hit video game, selling 9 million copies. Pretending I’m Superman is the story of the skaters and developers who came together to create the best-selling game as well as a look into how skateboarding became a part of the mainstream.

Featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews with Tony Hawk, as well as industry stars Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, and Jamie Thomas, the film is directed by Ludvig Gur and explores how skateboarding went from almost extinct to exploding into the mainstream in the early 2000s.

The documentary will be released on digital/VOD on August 18.
