Anna Kendrick is a blast in wedding movies. See: Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Sure, the film has its faults, but thanks to Kendrick’s charm and comedic talent, you won’t feel completely awkward for not knowing the bride or groom. Now, she looks to take her talents to a better script and cast with January’s Table 19.
In the upcoming film, Kendrick plays Eloise, who attends a wedding despite being recently dumped by the best man. When it turns out she’s stuck at the loser table with Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori, Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow and June Squibb, she resolves to quit the pity party and throw an actual party with her fellow wedding outcasts.
Thanks to the excellent Duplass brothers and director Jeffrey Blitz, this movie should be a nice January crowd-pleaser. Plus, when Phoebe Buffay, Darryl from The Office, and Zero from The Grand Budapest Hotel are the people occupying your wedding table, you’re probably in for a fun night.
