Infiltrate Hate in New ‘BlacKkKlansman” Poster

Director Spike Lee is back in his newest visionary tale, BlacKkKlansman, based on a true story. In the early 1970s, Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth sets out to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. Soon, with the help of a colleague (Adam Driver), the pair are poised to take down the extremist hate group from the inside.

Never one to shy away from films about racial issues, Spike Lee’s newest poster for BlacKkKlansman features Stallworth wearing a detective’s gear, the instantly recognizable hat of the Klansmen, holding an afro pick in his right hand while clenching his left fist in a sign of power, most recognizably used by the Black Panthers. It’s a mix of familiar imagery that feels jarring when assembled together.

Check out the poster below and see BlacKkKlansman in theaters on August 10, 2018.
