“I Know What You Did Last Summer” Reboot Gets First Poster

After the success of the Scream reboot in 2022, it seemed only a matter of time before I Know What You Did Last Summergot the same treatment.

The original 1997 film starred 90s heartthrobs Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe.  That film was written by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson, based on the popular YA novel by Lois Duncan.

After an immediate sequel and a more recently unsuccessful serialized reboot on Amazon, the franchise is again working its way to the big screen.  And though the details around the film have been under tight lip since its announcement, Sony is starting to let us in on some specifics, including the just released premise and debut poster.

The film, aptly titled I Know What You Did Last Summer, follows five friends involved in a deadly car accident.  After covering up their part, they make a pact to never speak of the incident again.  But someone knows, haunting the group as they stalk the teens, hell-bent on revenge.  But this has happened before.  In desperate need of answers, they turn to the survivors of the legendary Southern Massacre of 1997.

In addition to franchise returnees Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., the new film also stars Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Triq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.  Directed by Jennifer Kaylin Robinson, I Know What You Did Last Summer slashes its way into theaters on July 18

About Stephen Davis

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
