HBO Sets Premiere Date for “The Last of Us” Season Two

After what has felt like an eternity, HBO has finally revealed when audiences can expect to enjoy the new season of their immensely popular video game adaption, The Last of Us.

The second season will debut on April 13 at 9PM ET/PT.  The Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin series will take over the Sunday marquee time slot from The White Lotus after its third season finale.

Though HBO has released a series of images and character posters, they've yet to debut a trailer.  We're still unsure how much of the story will derive from the source material.  Recently, HBO executive Francesca Orsi said that due to the expansive nature of The Last Of Us: Part II game, four seasons will likely be required to address the entire story.  So, one would assume that this season, featuring seven episodes, won't cover too much of the plot from that entry.

The second season picks up five years from where we left off.  Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are drawn into conflict with each other and a world that has become more dangerous and unpredictable.

In addition to Ramsey and Pascal, Gabriel Luna and Rurina Wesley are set to reprise their original roles.  Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, Jeffrey Wright, and Catherine O'Hara are joining the ranks, giving the Emmy-winning series a power boost in its next outing.

About Stephen Davis

I owe this hobby/career to the one and only Stephanie Peterman who, while interning at Fox, told me that I had too many opinions and irrelevant information to keep it all bottled up inside. I survived my first rated R film, Alive, at the ripe age of 8, it took me months to grasp the fact that Julia Roberts actually died at the end of Steel Magnolias, and I might be the only person alive who actually enjoyed Sorority Row…for its comedic value of course. While my friends can drink you under the table, I can outwatch you when it comes iconic, yet horrid 80s films like Adventures in Babysitting and Troop Beverly Hills. I have no shame when it comes to what I like, and if you have a problem with that, then we’ll settle it on the racquetball court. I see too many movies to actually win any film trivia contest, so don’t waste your first pick on me. My friends rent movies from my bookcase shelves, and one day I do plan to start charging. I long to live in LA, where my movie obsession will actually help me fit in, but for now I am content with my home in Austin. I prefer indies to blockbusters, Longhorns to Sooners and Halloween to Friday the 13th. I miss the classics, as well as John Ritter, and I hope to one day sit down and interview the amazing Kate Winslet.
