Disney Announces “The Finest Hours” Home Video Release

The Finest Hours, Disney’s feature film based on the true story of one of the most daring rescues in Coast Guard history, comes to Blu-Ray Combo Pack and Digital HD May 24th.

Taking place in February of 1952, the film tells of an oil tanker that gets ripped in half during one of the worst storms to ever hit New England. The only ones who can save the 32 survivors are four Coast Guards in a small wooden boat meant to carry ten. However, in a battle against the clock the four rescuers must brave a frigid ocean with 70-foot high waves to complete their mission and return the men to safety.

Grossing just over $50 million worldwide, The Finest Hours provided a forgettable start to Disney’s 2016 slate, and the studio is hoping that the film finds its audience on home video. An A- cinemasscore should generate some buzz, as will “Against All Odds: The Bernie Webber Story,” an all-new documentary that takes a look into the actual events depicted in the film. Also included on the release is a behind the scenes feature and deleted scenes.

The Finest Hours is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Eric Bana and Holiday Grainger.
